Don’t skimp on the rent!! - by Atul Singh

Alas, you are just renting it. It is not your’s to keep. You will need to give it back. Sooner or later. Sooner still if you skimp on the rent. That’s just how it works, you Ding Dong. Did no one ever tell you that?

Although, while in it, you do feel like the owner for sure. Fancy palace or modest hut you got, that’s your luck. But happiness, as you have already realized, has more to do with who lives inside the dwelling rather than what the structure looks like. All other things being equal though, a robust, aesthetically appealing structure helps for sure. But not that much and not for that long. A well maintained, tidy home with a manicured garden and some nice paintings hung tastefully go much further towards the well being and joy of it’s inhabitants, than a fancy house that is falling apart.

Fall apart it will though, sooner or later. Sooner if you don’t pay the full rent. So don’t skimp on the rent, you Ding Dong. Did no one ever tell you that?

If they did you wouldn’t be eating junk food yet again. And you slept in, and missed the morning gym today too? You aren’t paying the full rent are you? And all the stress you carry, a 15 minute meditation and some good sleeping habits can fix that. Why would you ever let that much Cortisol filth rake the insides of the only home you will ever have and one that you can never buy again. Unless of course if you are just a sucker for eviction. Are you?

No one really wants to be evicted. I know you don’t, especially because you may not have earned this residence willy nilly. Some say God gave you this. Other’s say that you earned it after hundreds or thousands of previous births and evolution of the Soul. Human body is an opportunity to evolve the soul to it’s highest destination of Moksha, through this experience in the one you have been given, they say. Whatever be the truth, taking it for granted is hardly the right path. And you know what may be worse than having to leave your only abode? Living in it in pain and distress. Some of it will happen with age just due to nature of life and has to be managed.  But some can be prevented. Especially the long drawn cycle of pain that may be preventable. The one due to diseases like obesity, diabetes and others that suck the joy out of our short life-span.

So, drink some water, eat sensibly, rest and exercise. Daily and ardently. Like worship. You deserve it. Others who are around you, deserve, you taking care of yourself too. Else they will have to. Sometimes it just may not be fair on them.

Got it Mr. Ding Dong!! Don’t skimp on the rent!!
