A hundred love letters -Atul Singh

A whim and a fancy, a few wordsmithing brave-hearts, a quirky title and ChirpyQuill(CQ) was born. A blog for “Mujhe kuch kehna hai” people. We knew they were walking the sidewalks and by-lanes of life; thinking, contemplating, musing, somewhere. They just needed to be found and introduced to each other, and the world.

A year, a hundred writeups(that are love letters really), and twelve thousand views later CQ is not a baby anymore. It isn’t a grown-up either. It’s bones are starting to strengthen. Those around him are building affectionate bonds, with it and amongst themselves. It still has no personality. It adapts to the personality of the clothes grown-ups throw on it each day in their the latest write-up. And that is just fine. The personality will evolve and build. For now let it just imbibe and soak all that it can, from it’s environment. Like we all do. The sapling must grow first. Let it build it’s root systems and gain strength.

So what is it’s design? what is it’s purpose? All things that are created have a purpose don’t they? A building, a painting, a business everything serves a need, a purpose. So what does CQ live for?

There is a difference between the purpose of a static structure like a building, a form of self expression like a painting and that of a living thing. A static building has static purpose, in that it stores or protects, a painting does it’s thing to the painter and the viewer, a business serves a need for the customers. A living being perhaps evolves and defines and redefines their purpose. May be for a living being, being itself is the purpose.

CQ in that sense is more akin to being a painting or a living being. It’s purpose evolving, its purpose in the mind of it’s writers and readers. It shaping and refining its purpose and expanse as it goes along. But at the core, may be it is a voice that connects. One person through his thoughts to another via theirs. Is it a “Feeling” Universe as they say or a “Thought” Universe? Feelings precipitate into thoughts before manifesting, don’t they. And thoughts may become word pictures, so others can consume them too. That’s the bridge we throw across the span. On the other side of the span is a person sometimes. And sometime it is just us on both sides. We get to learn about ourselves too as we write, don’t we?

So let the ball roll. It shall gather no moss that way. The ball of our emotions, thoughts, pontifications and musings. Let it become bigger as it catches more snow in it’s path. Let it snowball into powerful ideas that change perceptions for the better, that become books and philosophies, that make people laugh and cry, that that….

Let it live to it’s fullest purpose even as it shapes it’s purpose into the future.

That would be quite nice, won’t it? We don’t straightjacket the child that way. It must prepare for and shape a world that is beyond our imaginations.
